Welcome to the gas pump......

Well, it's official....gasoline prices have never been higher......so what are you gonna do about it?......ditch that big thirsty suv?......walk?........bitch and whine until they bring 'em back down?.........I was driving a '77 Chevy pickup with a V8 and a 4-bbl.....it now spends most of it's time keeping the gravel dry in my driveway....i went out and bough a '90 Honda Civic sedan, which gets like 3x the mileage of the Chevy....doesn't make the gas any cheaper, but it makes me a little happier.....so ok....i did something....i took some action....now it's your turn.....do something....just don't bitch and whine.....

the other day it occurred to me: high gas prices affect everyone...not just me, and not just you....they're sorta like when your buddy who had chili for lunch cracks one off in a crowded room...pretty much without exception, everyone is going to be imapcted, and probably not in a good way.....

Hasta Manana, people,

Kudo's. We dumped our big Dodge Ram and walk more in addition to combining trips when we can.

howdy LaVoix......

thanx for the encouragement, and best luck with your efforts....the honda has a tiny gas tank, and seems to get surreal mileage...haven't had it long enough yet to really get any figures together, but my curiosity is driving the effort...i drive almost 50 miles round trip to work 5 days a week, and it went over a calendar week before i had to even think about gassing up, so i'm happy.....just wish it had more interior room.....as soon as i figure out the mileage facts and such, i'll post them here for anyone who's wanting to know......

How many miles per gallon did your truck get?

on May 17, 2004
Hi KarmaGirl.....

...near as i can guess, mostly because i never tried very hard to get an accurate idea of it's mileage, it was somewhere between fair and piss-poor....don't misunderstand me; i don't expect a big old pickup with a V8 to get amazing mileage....but.....we live in perilous times, and i was spending about $35-40 a week in gasoline just to get back and forth to work, to earn money to buy gas, to get to work, to earn money....are we seeing a pattern here?.....i freely admit it: i hate work...if i could, i'd never work again...but if i have to (and i do), i'm doing to earn money, not spend it, or waste it...i don't pay to park if i can help it...i don't buy lunch out..i don't buy bunches of snacks and cokes all the time...and i don't want to have to spend any more than i have to for gas, so...the truck sits, and waits for me to need it for hauling something.....

be sweet,

TMB
